The Menlo Park Elementary School District serves parts
of Menlo Park, Atherton and unincorporated San Mateo County. There are
1,955 students, kindergarten through 8th grade, enrolled in the four
schools of the Menlo Park City School District. The District receives
substantial support within the community through the Menlo Park Atherton
Education Foundation, which raised over $783,000 for the schools in
2001. The API for all four schools were in the top percentiles for the
state. These schools feed into the Sequoia Union High School District
for grades 9-12.

Las Lomitas & La Entrada are both recipients of the
California Distinguished School Award. The mission of Las Lomitas School
is to inspire and prepare students to achieve their highest potential
so they may become independent life long learners and positive contributing
members of society. The mission of La Entrada is that school should
be a place where a student feels welcome and learns to function effectively
as an individual and as a member of a group. The staff should dedicate
energy and expertise to create a positive environment with optimum conditions
for learning for all students. And, that communication and respect between
and among students, parents, and staff is vital to a healthy school
atmosphere.

Sequoia Union High School District serves students from
eight feeder school districts, including Atherton, Belmont, East Palo
Alto, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos, and Woodside.
Sequoia district consists of four comprehensive high schools, a continuation
high school, and an adult school. Approximately 7,300 students are served
in grades 9 - 12. Over 8,000 adults are served through the adult school.
The district employs nearly 700 certificated and classified personnel
and has a total budget of approximately 56 million dollars.
Redwood City School District

All Redwood City School District schools provide
students with a strong basic academic program. Garfield School is a
magnet school, as are most school within the Redwood City School District.
The magnet schools allow parents and students to choose from alternative
programs of academic excellence plus enrichment through specialty programs.
The magnet schools' different approaches to education are designed to
meet individual interests and needs and to attract students from all
backgrounds and cultures. Magnet funding provides schools with computers,
software, new equipment, textbooks, classroom supplies and additional
staff required to develop enriched programs, which attract students
from a wide variety of backgrounds.

One of the gifts Sacred Heart Schools have to offer is
a commitment to the development of the whole child. The curriculum at
St. Joseph's is designed to help develop the critical thinking and problem-solving

Sacred Heart Preparatory is a co-educational, Catholic,
independent high school located in Atherton, California. It is more
than a high school where students can acquire the skills necessary to
succeed in college. Sacred Heart's mission is to develop a lifelong

the foundation that will guide young adults through the course of their
lives.

Peninsula School is located on six acres of land in Menlo
Park, California. With its Victorian "Big Building," many
large oaks, and natural setting, the school provides a sense of seclusion,
safety, and timelessness that is cherished by the children, parents
and teachers who make up its community. The atmosphere is relaxed and
informal, and the emphasis is as much on play and fellowship as it is
on academic growth.
The school was founded in 1925 by a group of parents (including
the noted educator, Josephine Duveneck) who sought an environment in
which learning was joyful and exciting, where children were challenged
to learn by doing, and where both independence and group cooperation
were highly valued. Unable to find a school that met those criteria,
they pooled their resources and started "The Peninsula School for
Creative Education," a cooperative, non-profit organization.
